Bob's name for the autonomy of the electric age mistaken for divinity — the super angel's condition read as a "God position," the leviathan of tactile, mixed-corporate-media anti-environment refined into each individual. Bob uses it "cautiously," and Cameron presses it to its limit: a self that certifies its own ground has no ground, and implodes. Introduced in dialogue 40.
Across the dialogues
Arrives as a new page — Bob's name for the autonomy the discarnate super angel mistakes for divinity, and the figure Cameron immediately turns on itself, since a self that must certify its own ground has none
The God self is the endpoint of the flip — the monstrous leviathan of tactile corporate media refined down into each individual's autonomy.
"And so I say the Leviathan of that is now going to flip into the more refined cloth of the individual God self."
The God self is a technological effect, not a metaphysics — electric autonomy positioning each person as a god, which is why Bob takes the religious word only "cautiously."
"the technology was putting you in a God position on the autonomy level."
Taken seriously the God self implodes — its self-certifying nomination has no external marker, so the whole logic collapses in on itself.
"depends upon the certification of the same God self doing the nomination, right? I mean, it's a logic that falls through itself like a black hole."
Where the tribe once gave people ground, the God self structurally cannot — its apparent liberation from the tribal is the very loss of ground, and it stands "up against all the other god selves."
"And later it turns out that that's a tremendous weakness because the tribal was giving you ground, and the God Self can never do that."
