The recent adoption of "meme" is, for Bob, McLuhan's process — a word of "perfect pitch" the collective seizes to name an effect it already perceives.
"So why did these kids pick up on that? But this is the process McLuhan talked about. The collective consciousness of people engaging media seemed to agree on an effect."
